Clippers look to avoid eighth straight loss vs. Mavs

Jan 6, 2009 - 3:39 PM LA Clippers (8-25) at Dallas (20-13) 8:30 p.m. EST

DALLAS (Ticker) -- Few teams in the NBA have been hit as hard by the injury bug as the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers will be looking to get some valuable contributions from some of their other players as they attempt to snap a seven-game losing streak against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.

Four of the players Los Angeles was counting this season are out of the lineup, with Ricky Davis and Chris Kaman out since the end of January and Zach Randolph joining them with a bruised knee on December 20. Baron Davis was the latest players to fall, suffering a bruised tailbone on January 2.

While Baron Davis remains day-to-day, the other three are not likely to see the floor against the Mavericks.

With everyone out of the lineup, Los Angeles ranks last in the Western Conference and 29th in the NBA in scoring, averaging just 93.5 points per game.

Dallas was riding a three-game winning streak before suffering a 102-82 loss at lowly Memphis on Sunday. Starters Jason Kidd, Devean George and Erick Dampier combined for just five points.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points in the loss and has moved up to fourth in the NBA in scoring, averaging 26 points per game.

The Mavericks have taken two of the three meetings between the teams this season, including a 98-76 win on December 21. Nowitzki sat out the game while serving a one-game suspension for drawing a flagrant-2 foul, but Josh Howard scored 29 points to carry Dallas.
