Nets look to maintain first place vs. 76ers
Dec 2, 2006 - 4:51 PM Philadelphia (5-9) at New Jersey (6-9) 7:30 pm ESTEAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets aim to win consecutive games for just the second time this season when they face Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
New Jersey snapped a six-game losing streak with a 106-103 win at Boston on Wednesday. The win put the Nets in first place in the Atlantic Division.
Vince Carter led the Nets with 23 points, and rookie Hassan Adams added a season-best 16 points along with eight rebounds. Jason Kidd nearly recorded a triple-double with 19 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
It was the first time in six games the seven-time All-Star posted double-digit points. Kidd is just one triple-double shy of tying Wilt Chamberlain for third on the career list at 78.
Allen Iverson scored 45 points for the 76ers, who lost 103-91 at Miami on Monday night. Iverson shot 17-of-37 from the field for Philadelphia which has lost two straight.
Andre Iguoldala added 15 points and nine rebounds, but was the only Sixer to score 10 or more points.
Philadelphia has lost five straight on the road, and has won only twice in seven tries away from home.
The 76ers have won three of four vs. the Nets.
