Two of NBA's worst meet when Wizards visit Kings
Jan 21, 2009 - 11:23 AM Washington (8-32) at Sacramento (10-32) 10:00 p.m. ESTSACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Washington Wizards have struggled to score all season without two of their key players in the lineup. A visit to the Sacramento Kings may cure those ills.
The Wizards look to continue their dominance over the Kings when two of the worst teams in the NBA meet on Wednesday.
Without three-time All-Star Gilbert Arenas, who has yet to play this season after undergoing three surgeries in 17 months on his left knee, and Brendan Haywood, who has been sidelined since October after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, Washington ranks 26th in the league in scoring, averaging 94.2 points per game.
The Wizards have been even worse during the last month, scoring only 90.2 points a contest while losing 13 of 17 games over that span, including a 119-98 setback to the Golden State Warriors on Monday.
However, Washington has won each of its last six meetings with the Kings, who are surrendering 107.6 points per game - second-to-last in the NBA.
Sacramento's defense has been particularly non-existent recently, allowing at least 118 points in dropping three of its last four contests.
After taking a 31-23 lead in the first quarter on Tuesday, the Kings were outscored 34-16 in the second and trailed 94-75 entering the fourth quarter en route to a 118-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
