Yao hopes to keep shorthanded Rockets rolling

Jan 23, 2009 - 11:22 AM Houston (27-16) at Indiana (15-27), 7:00 pm EST

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Injuries to Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest have not slowed the Houston Rockets down.

Yao Ming will attempt to lead the Rockets to their fourth straight win when they face the Indiana Pacers on Friday.

Houston continues to roll without McGrady, who has missed the last five games while resting his sore left knee, and Artest, who has been sidelined for six contests with a sprained right ankle.

Yao scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lift the Rockets to a 108-99 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Rafer Alston poured in 23 points and handed out eight assists and Von Wafer added 21 points for the Rockets, who have won six of their last seven games.

The Pacers are hoping a return home can end their woes. Indiana dropped its last two contests on the road, including a 99-81 setback to the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday.

The Pacers have won their last three home games and own a 9-9 record at Conseco Fieldhouse this season.
