Grizzlies go for second road win of season

Dec 4, 2006 - 3:46 PM Memphis (4-12) at New York (6-13) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Memphis Grizzlies are just as bad on the road as the New York Knicks are at home.

The Grizzlies open a three-game road trip on Monday against the Knicks, who are on the second leg of a six-game homestand.

Memphis is 1-8 away from home while New York is just 1-7 on its floor, providing the Grizzlies with a little hope.

Memphis tries to rebound from a stunning 98-97 loss to Miami on Saturday. Rookie Rudy Gay failed to tap the jump ball in the direction of a teammate, eventually allowing former Grizzlie James Posey to nail a miraculous 3-pointer from the corner as time expired.

Mike Miller scored 22 points and Gay added 20 for the Grizzlies, who nearly rallied from a 22-point first-half deficit.

The Knicks fell short for the second straight time after a 103-100 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Saturday. Eddy Curry netted 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Quentin Richardson added 16 and 16 for New York, which dropped its fourth consecutive contest at Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks won a 118-117 triple-overtime thriller over the Grizzlies on November 1 in Memphis.
