Spurs look to protect long home win streak vs. Warriors

Dec 4, 2006 - 3:48 PM Golden State (9-8) at San Antonio (12-5) 8:00 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs allowed the Golden State Warriors to end one of their winning streaks this season. It is unlikely they will let the Warriors do the same to another streak Monday.

The Spurs had their franchise record of 12 straight road victories snapped by the Warriors, 111-102, a week ago.

But on the bright side, San Antonio has won 16 straight games here over Golden State. The one-sided run has been intact since February 14, 1997.

Bruce Bowen scored a season-high 23 points, including six 3-pointers, and Tony Parker added 20 and eight assists for the Spurs, who survived 18 turnovers. Tim Duncan collected 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for San Antonio, which ended a two-game skid.

The Warriors endured their second straight meltdown following a 115-110 setback to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. Golden State squandered a 10-point fourth-quarter lead.

Troy Murphy scored 23 points and Baron Davis and Monta Ellis both added 19 for the Warriors, who were outrebounded, 44-33.

Golden State coach Don Nelson remains stuck at 1,199 career wins. With a victory, he will join Lenny Wilkens as the only other coach to record at least 1,200 wins.
