Struggling Nets hope to slow surging Sixers

Jan 31, 2009 - 11:20 AM New Jersey (20-27) at Philadelphia (23-22) 7:00 p.m. EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets have fallen to their lowest point of the season. The Philadelphia 76ers just matched their highest.

The Nets will look to bounce back and slow the simmering 76ers on Saturday.

New Jersey fell a season-high seven games below .500 on Friday with a 105-88 loss at Atlanta. The Nets shot 40 percent (30-of-75) and turned the ball over 16 times. They were particularly awful in the second half, managing 35 points after the break.

After beginning 10-4 on the road, New Jersey has dropped eight of nine.

Vince Carter scored 18 points on 6-of-18 shooting against the Hawks and has managed to shoot over 50 percent once in the past 10 games, with the Nets going 2-8 over that span.

The Sixers moved above .500 for the first time since November 23 with a 104-94 win over the Washington Wizards on Friday. Willie Green and Andre Iguodala scored 20 points apiece for Philadelphia, which shot 55 percent (42-of-77) from the floor.

New Jersey won the first meeting between the teams, 95-84, on December 6 behind 27 points from Devin Harris.
