Lowly Wizards host struggling Clippers

Jan 31, 2009 - 11:18 AM LA Clippers (10-36) at Washington (9-37) 8:00 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- A losing streak must come to an end when the Washington Wizards host the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

Carrying slides of four and five games, respectively, the matchup between the Clippers and Wizards pits two of the NBA's worst.

The Clippers opened a season-high, seven-game road trip with a 112-95 loss to Cleveland on Friday. After spotting the Cavaliers a 20-4 lead, Eric Gordon helped Los Angeles actually pull ahead and hang around until late in the fourth quarter with 27 points before the Eastern Conference power proved to be too much.

Despite just two wins in January, Gordon has emerged for the Clippers, averaging 21.7 points and 4.1 assists this month.

The Wizards have just one more win in January and are coming off a 104-94 loss in Philadelphia on Friday. Antawn Jamison collected 25 points and tied a season-high with 15 rebounds in the loss.

After erasing a 15-point, first-quarter deficit to take the lead in the third, the Wizards scored two points during a four-minute stretch late in the final period and missed out on their fourth road win of the season.

Washington (9-37) is the lone team in the league with single-digit wins, but could pull even with Los Angeles (10-36) with a victory. Sacramento (10-38) owns the second-worst winning percentage in the NBA and boasts an even-worse eight game losing skid.
