Blazers visit Hornets looking for fifth straight win

Feb 2, 2009 - 2:50 PM Portland (29-17) at New Orleans (28-16), 8:00 p.m. EST

NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Brandon Roy and the Portland Trail Blazers aim for their fifth straight victory when they visit the New Orleans Hornets on Monday.

During its current stretch, Portland has won by an average of 16.5 points and never trailed by more than five in any of those games.

Roy, selected to play for the Western Conference in the upcoming All-Star Game, paced Portland in its 122-108 triumph over the Utah Jazz on Saturday with 30 points. He has reached that mark seven times this season.

The Blazers, who have lost straight consecutive road games against the Hornets, were without Roy in a 92-77 loss on January 2 due to a right hamstring injury.

New Orleans, meanwhile, will try to avoid losing three in a row for the first time this season.

All-Star Chris Paul continued his stellar campaign by netting 38 points on Saturday, but his team fizzled in a 106-93 setback to the San Antonio Spurs.

The Hornets have shown their ability to bounce back from a loss this season, posting an 11-4 record after suffering a setback.
