Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Indiana Pacers

The Cavaliers have been up and down over the last few weeks. They’re not stringing together wins and don’t have back-to-back victories in over a month.

This roster has depth and is tough on defense, but they don’t have many offensive options besides Donovan Mitchell.

They are very good at grabbing the first points and have hit the first basket in eight of their last ten. Garland has been on a nice run lately with four of those eight first baskets and averages 1.20 of the team’s first three shots.

Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves came into this season with high expectations but have underachieved. Last year’s top-scoring offense is in the middle of the pack as the team hangs around .500.

Something offensively this team does well is grabbing the first points with 63.6% this year. Rudy Gobert leads the team in first baskets, and with the Nuggets being near the bottom in opponent rim-shooting percentage, I love for the T-Wolves to attack the boards for the first points.

Toronto Raptors vs. Memphis Grizzlies

It hasn’t been that long since the Raptors won it all, but that championship pedigree is no longer there. Many of the key pieces have moved on, and the team currently sits under .500.

They could put the Grizzles on upset watch with Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson both questionable and Dillon Brooks serving his suspension.

It will start with Toronto grabbing the first basket. They’re coming in grabbing the first points in six of their last ten games compared to Memphis getting three. Siakam is the team’s top scorer and leads in first baskets.
