Last place Wizards, Pacers set to do battle

Feb 8, 2009 - 8:22 AM Indiana (20-31) at Washington (10-40) 6:00 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- After stealing a win from the best team in the Southeast Division, the Indiana Pacers are hoping to do the same against the worst.

The Pacers will look to spark a modest winning streak when they take on the NBA-worst Washington Wizards on Sunday.

Indiana sits in last place in the Central Division but is coming off a nice win, 107-102, over the Orlando Magic on Friday. Danny Granger scored 33 points and went 12-for-12 at the free-throw line to help the Pacers snap a three-game slide.

T.J. Ford added 21 points and Indiana forced 16 turnovers to help offset a 50-38 rebounding disadvantage.

While the Pacers are 14-11 at home, they slump to 6-20 on the road, including seven straight losses.

The Wizards should provide just about the easiest road test in the league as they attempt to avoid their fourth straight loss and ninth in 10 games.

Washington was hammered, 124-103, against the Denver Nuggets on Friday while playing without guard Caron Butler, who is day-to-day with the flu. The Wizards allowed the Nuggets to shoot 56 percent.
