Shorthanded Hornets aim for third straight win

Feb 9, 2009 - 2:16 PM New Orleans (30-18) at Memphis (14-36), 8:00 p.m. EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- With Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler still on the sidelines, the New Orleans Hornets go for their third straight win when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

New Orleans won its second straight contest on Sunday, pulling out a 101-97 victory over Minnesota.

Paul (groin) missed his third straight game, while New Orleans played its 10th consecutive contest without Chandler (ankle) against Minnesota. The Hornets were also without forward David West for the entire second half after the All-Star was ejected for a flagrant-2 foul on Mike Miller with 1:59 left in the second quarter.

Unsung hero Sean Marks scored a career-high 18 points in Sunday's win and the ninth-year veteran had the game-winning dunk with 7.9 seconds to play. Marks had scored 67 points for the entire season prior to the victory.

Memphis has surprisingly won three of its last four since a 12-game losing streak.

Hakim Warrick and rookie O.J. Mayo each scored 16 points as the Grizzlies defeated the Toronto Raptors, 77-70, on Saturday.

New Orleans has won both meetings with Memphis this season and 11 of the past 12 overall.
