Knicks look for second straight home win vs. Wizards

Dec 6, 2006 - 4:57 PM Washington (7-10) at New York (7-13) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Coming off just their second home win of the season, the New York Knicks will face a team that cannot win on the road.

The Knicks host the Washington Wizards on Wednesday in the second contest of a season-high six-game homestand.

On Monday, New York snapped a four-game home losing streak with a 98-90 win over Memphis but is 2-7 at Madison Square Garden this campaign. The Knicks' only home win prior to Monday's victory was against the Wizards, who are 0-8 away from the Verizon Center.

However, New York got some stellar interior play on Monday. Eddy Curry had 26 points and a career-high 15 rebounds and David Lee added a season-best 20 and 11.

It was Curry's second consecutive game with a double-double and fourth this season after collecting just 10 a season ago. He has seven straight games with at least 20 points.

Despite its road woes, Washington is a different team on its home floor. On Monday, Gilbert Arenas had 38 points and eight assists and the hot-shooting Wizards rolled to a 106-97 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

Washington has not lost nine straight road contests since dropping 11 straight from December 9, 2003 to January 24, 2004.
