Nets hope to right ship against Wizards

Feb 20, 2009 - 3:20 PM Washington (12-42) at New Jersey (24-31) 8:00 p.m. EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets have started off the second half of their season the same way the first half concluded.

Losers of four straight by double-digits, New Jersey has a chance to get back on track Friday when it hosts the lowly Washington Wizards.

The Nets headed into last week's All-Star break with back-to-back losses to Orlando and San Antonio. A trip to Texas after the break had much of the same results.

New Jersey followed a 26-point loss to Houston Tuesday with a 113-98 setback in Dallas on Wednesday. Devin Harris had 18 points on just 5-of-18 from the field and Vince Carter added 15 on 7-of-21 shooting.

With an 11-16 mark at home this season, the Nets will look to improve on their record at the IZOD Center as they try to stay in playoff contention.

Last in the Eastern Conference, the Wizards started off their second half with a 111-103 win over Minnesota on Tuesday. Antawn Jamison led six players in double figures with 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Caron Butler collected 15 points, five rebounds and six assists for Washington, which is looking to split the season series with New Jersey.
