Hot Rockets aim to keep rolling

Dec 6, 2006 - 5:09 PM Houston (12-5) at Minnesota (7-9) 8:00 pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - The sizzling Houston Rockets look for their eighth victory in their last nine games when they travel to Minnesota for a contest against the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Houston's latest triumph was an easy 118-90 thrashing of the Golden state warriors on Tuesday. The Rockets decided the issue early, jumping out to a 15-point advantage after one quarter.

Tracy McGrady led the Rockets with 31 points and also recorded seven assists. Yao Ming finished with 27 points and eight rebounds for the Rockets, who shot 54 percent from the field while allowing the Warriors to shoot only 39 percent.

The Rockets, averaging 92.1 points per game, entered Tuesday's game with the second-lowest points-per-game average in the NBA. However, Houston has played stifling defense, as they are holding opponents to an NBA-low 87.8 points per game.

The Timberwolves come off a 95-84 road victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, which snapped a three-game losing streak.

Ricky Davis led the Timberwolves with 22 points while Mike James finished with 20 points. Minnesota shot 52 percent from the floor while limiting the Sixers to 39 percent shooting.
