Streaking Nuggets host Hawks
Dec 6, 2006 - 5:17 PM Atlanta (7-9) at Denver (10-5) 9:00 pm ESTDENVER (Ticker) -- The streaking Denver Nuggets look to stay hot when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
Denver, which has won seven of its last eight, has won two straight games. The Nuggets' latest victory was an easy 121-101 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.
Carmelo Anthony scored a season-high 38 points and J.R. Smith added 19 points for the Nuggets,who forced 26 Indiana turnovers while committing only 10 of their own.
The Hawks come off a 102-87 loss to the Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday. Atlanta got off to an atrocious start, getting outscored, 29-18, in the first quarter.
Joe Johnson was a one-man show for the Hawks, scoring 34 points. The next-highest Atlanta scorer was Josh Smith, who netted 11 points, while Zaza Pachulia had 10 points.
Atlanta only shot 39 percent from the field while Seattle shot at a 55 percent clip.
