Duncan's status uncertain vs. Trail Blazers

Feb 25, 2009 - 11:28 AM Portland (35-21) at San Antonio (38-17) 8:30 p.m. EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs have been bitten by the injury bug. As long as Tony Parker stays healthy, the Spurs may be able to whether the storm.

San Antonio could be without Tim Duncan for the second straight game on Wednesday when they host the Portland Trail Blazers.

After feeling fine hours before Tuesday's meeting with the Dallas Mavericks, Duncan missed his first game this season due to injury when he was forced to sit with a sore right knee.

"He'll see the doctors (Wednesday morning), and we'll see what they say," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.

"His knee didn't have any strength and he couldn't get it warmed up, he couldn't get it loosened up. It's very strange ... he was good this morning, but this evening he couldn't move it. So we sat him."

San Antonio was without two of its top three players, as guard Manu Ginobili is out for the next few weeks due to a stress reaction in his right ankle.

With the absence of Duncan and Ginobili, Parker took over, pouring in 37 points and a season-high 12 assists as the Spurs cruised to a 93-76 victory over their cross-state rivals.

The Trail Blazers hope to avoid a meeting with Duncan when they try to bounce back after having a three-game win streak snapped during Tuesday's 98-94 loss to the Houston Rockets.
