With February over, Knicks look to begin anew

Mar 4, 2009 - 11:20 AM Atlanta (34-26) at New York (24-35) 7:30 p.m. EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The New York Knicks are happy February is over.

The Knicks look to end a three-game losing streak on Wednesday when they host the Atlanta Hawks.

After opening February with six straight losses, New York appeared to turn the corner on its struggles, beating the San Antonio Spurs for the first of three wins over four games.

However, the Knicks quickly returned to their losing ways over the final three contests of the month, dropping five-point decisions each to the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat.

New York was outscored, 37-17, in the fourth quarter against the Heat and allowed Dwyane Wade to pour in 24 of his 46 points during the session en route to a 120-115 loss on Saturday.

The Hawks took another step on their road to recovery by forging a 98-89 victory over the lowly Washington Wizards on Monday.

Marvin Williams scored 28 points, Joe Johnson added 16 and 13 assists while Al Horford contributed 16 and eight rebounds for Atlanta, which won for the second time in three games following a three-game slide.
