Nets hope to continue playoff push vs Warriors

Mar 11, 2009 - 6:17 AM New Jersey (28-35) at Golden State (21-42) 10:30 p.m. EDT

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets will be looking to move one step closer to the playoffs when they kick off their last extended west coast trip of the season Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors.

The Nets are part of a crowd of five teams within 1 1/2 games of each other fighting for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

New Jersey is coming off a 106-101 victory over the New York Knicks on Sunday that saw Devin Harris collect 35 points and 10 assists. Vince Carter added 25 points and Brook Lopez continued his impressive rookie campaign with 16.

The win snapped a disappointing stretch of three losses in four games, with all three of the setbacks coming despite the Nets holding a fourth-quarter lead.

The Warriors have dropped five of six and appear to be playing out the string. Never showing much concern on defense, Golden State is allowing over 111 points per game and is coming off a 127-120 loss at Milwaukee.

The Warriors released backup point guard Marcus Williams on Tuesday as coach Don Nelson continues to try to find pieces to fit his free-wheeling system.
