Bucks, Grizzlies look for second straight victories

Dec 8, 2006 - 3:08 PM Memphis (5-13) at Milwaukee (7-11) 8:30 pm EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Not much has gone right this season for Michael Redd and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Memphis Grizzlies certainly won't be sending them any sympathy cards.

The struggling Bucks aim for their second straight victory Friday when they host the Grizzlies, who will look to record consecutive wins for the first time this season.

After reaching the postseason in 2005-06, Milwaukee slumped to a 3-8 start this season. Since then, the Bucks have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games, failing to capture any sort of consistent rhythm over that stretch.

Redd scored 33 points and made several key baskets down the stretch Wednesday as Milwaukee rallied for a 102-94 overtime triumph over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Ruben Patterson scored 26 points and Mo Williams chipped in 20 for Milwaukee, which won despite shooting just 3-of-16 (19 percent) from the arc.

Like the Bucks, the Grizzlies, who still are without injured star forward Pau Gasol, have gotten off to a disappointing start this season.

Memphis snapped a three-game skid Wednesday with a 98-96 victory over the Boston Celtics.

Chucky Atkins paced the Grizzlies with 19 points while Dahntay Jones and Lawrence Roberts each added 18 for Memphis, which improved to just 2-9 on the road this season.
