Wizards look for second straight road win vs. 76ers

Dec 8, 2006 - 3:39 PM Washington (8-10) at Philadelphia (5-12) 8:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Washington Wizards won their first road game of the season on Wednesday. Two days later, they have a good chance to pick up their second.

The Wizards aim for a season-high three-game winning streak Friday when they visit the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, who have won just twice in the last month.

Gilbert Arenas scored 38 points and Antawn Jamison added 33 as Washington posted a 113-102 victory over New York on Wednesday for their first road win of the season.

Entering the contest, the Wizards were 0-8 on the road, primarily due to Arenas' struggles. Prior to his outburst, the All-Star guard was averaging 33.7 points at home but just 17.6 points on 28 percent shooting on the road.

The 76ers have lost five in a row and nine of their last 10 contests. On Wednesday, Philadelphia dropped a 121-94 decision vs. Chicago and lost superstar guard Allen Iverson to an injury. The Sixers have allowed nearly 108 points per game during their slide and have lost by an average of 13.6 points.

The NBA's second-leading scorer at 31.2 points per game, Iverson sat out the fourth quarter against the Bulls with back spasms and will not play Friday.

Philadelphia has won 10 of its last 12 home matchups against the Wizards.
