Clippers look for first road win of season vs. Spurs
Dec 8, 2006 - 3:49 PM LA Clippers (9-8) at San Antonio (14-5) 8:00 pm ESTSAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Still in search of their first win away from Tinsel Town, the Los Angeles Clippers look to cure their road woes against one of the best teams in the NBA.
After a successful homestand, the Clippers kick off a two-game road trip Friday when they visit the San Antonio Spurs.
When Washington defeated New York at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Los Angeles became the only team in the NBA without a road win this season. The Clippers are 0-6 on the road and have dropped 12 straight regular-season contests away from their home court.
Los Angeles went 3-1 on its four-game homestand, capped by a 101-97 win over Miami on Tuesday. Elton Brand tied a season high with 33 points and grabbed 17 rebounds while Cuttino Mobley added 21 points in the contest.
On Wednesday, Tim Duncan scored 11 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and Manu Ginobili added 13 as the San Antonio Spurs reeled off their third straight win, a 96-76 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.
With the Spurs in front, 77-66, early in the final period, Duncan netted his team's next 11 points, highlighted by a hook for a three-point play and running jumper for an 88-70 lead with 5:28 to go. The superstar forward made 9-of-17 shots overall.
San Antonio has won nine of its last 10 matchups with the Clippers.
