Hornets, Warriors look to get back on track
Dec 9, 2006 - 6:11 PM New Orleans (9-9) at Golden State (9-10) 10:30 pm ESTOAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- New Orleans Hornets coach Byron Scott did not like his team's effort in their last contest. They will get a chance to rebound on Saturday.
After an embarrassing loss at Seattle on Friday, the Hornets will travel to the Bay Area to face the struggling Golden State Warriors.
With their coach upset at their lackluster play, Desmond Mason scored just 10 points and Tyson Chandler grabbed 13 rebounds for the Hornets, who shot 39 percent (28-of-72) and missed 11 free throws in a 94-74 loss to the SuperSonics.
Seattle did a solid job on star guard Chris Paul. The Sonics kept Paul from penetrating and creating easy baskets for himself and his teammates. He had 16 points and six assists but also committed five of New Orleans' 27 turnovers.
The Warriors were blown out in their last contest, as well. Monta Ellis scored 19 points for Golden State, which shot just 39 percent (32-of-82) and allowed 62 points in the paint in a 118-90 loss to Houston on Tuesday.
The Warriors were outscored by 68 points in a two-game trek through Texas and have lost four straight games.
Golden State is looking to give coach Don Nelson his 1,200th career win. He will join all-time leader Lenny Wilkens as the only two to reach that mark.
The Warriors picked up a 121-116 win at home against the Hornets on November 9 - the only meeting between the teams this season.
