Kings hope to end five-game slide

Dec 10, 2006 - 3:29 PM Atlanta (8-10) at Sacramento (8-10) 9:00 pm EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings' five-game losing streak is one they shouldn't necessarily be to ashamed of.

The Kings host the Atlanta Hawks, who are wrapping up a five-game road trip, on Sunday.

Five losses is five losses, but Sacramento has fallen when visiting strong teams in San Antonio, Dallas and Phoenix. The Orlando Magic eventually had to win here and even though the Miami Heat have been struggling, they entered the matchup owning a four-game winning streak at Arco Arena and a five-game run overall in the series.

Mike Bibby scored 20 points and Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Brad Miller both added 15, but the Kings endured a 93-91 overtime setback Thursday to the Heat.

Kevin Martin had 13 points for Sacramento, which shot just 36 percent (30-of-83) from the floor.

Meanwhile, the Hawks fell to 2-2 on their trek following a 106-95 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. Joe Johnson netted 30 points and Josh Smith collected 17, 11 rebounds and three blocks for Atlanta, which allowed Los Angeles to shoot 56 percent (39-of-70) from the field.

The Kings have won six straight games over the Hawks.
