Nets aim to snap three-game losing streak

Dec 11, 2006 - 2:21 PM Memphis (5-15) at New Jersey (7-12) 7:30 pm EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets are a first-place team, although they have not often looked like it this season.

The Nets, in first place in the Atlantic Division, hope to snap a three-game losing streak when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

New Jersey tries to rebound from a tough 92-90 loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday. Paul Pierce hit a jumper over Nets guard Jason Kidd at the buzzer to give the Celtics the victory.

The Nets jumped out to a quick start, outscoring Boston, 27-11, in the first quarter, but gave most of the big advantage back in the second quarter when they were outscored, 34-21.

Nenad Krstic led the Nets with 20 points while Vince Carter added 19.

One of the three straight New Jersey losses was a 161-157 double-overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday. That game matched the NBA's fourth-highest point total and saw Kidd tie Wilt Chamberlain for third place with 78 career triple-doubles.
