Western heavyweights meet in Utah

Dec 11, 2006 - 3:39 PM Dallas (14-6) at Utah (15-5) 9:00 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- After an impressive streak, the Dallas Mavericks have just been average in their last four games and look to get on another roll starting against the Utah Jazz on Monday.

The Mavericks are just 2-2 in their last four games after reeling off 12 straight wins. Dallas is looking for its second straight win after a 105-90 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

Josh Howard led the Mavericks with 30 points while Dirk Nowitzki added 25 and Jason Terry 24 for Dallas, which shot 49 percent from the field while holding the Nuggets to 38 percent shooting.

The Jazz, who own the league's best record, have also cooled off lately, going 2-2 in their last four games after a 13-3 start. Utah tries to rebound from a 110-103 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

Deron Williams led the Jazz with 21 points and Mehmet Okur added 18.

Carlos Boozer had a rare off-night, shooting only 4-of-17 from the field and finishing with eight points along with 13 rebounds.
