Clippers try to overcome injury woes vs. Jazz

Dec 13, 2006 - 4:30 PM Utah (16-5) at LA Clippers (10-10) 10:30 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Far from being at full strength, the Los Angeles Clippers will need all their available weapons against the league's top team.

The Clippers look for their 10th win in 13 home games this season and avenge an earlier loss to the Utah Jazz when the teams meet for the second time this year on Wednesday.

Los Angeles has won three of its last five contests, with both losses coming against San Antonio. The Clippers fell behind early in Monday's encounter with the Spurs before falling, 103-81.

Veteran guard Sam Cassell - the team's second-leading scorer (14.8) - left the game in the second quarter with plantar fasciitis and may not be available. Center Chris Kaman sat out with a stomach virus and guard Corey Maggette has a bruised left knee.

Rookie Paul Davis scored a season-high 15 points to lead six players in double figures. Elton Brand had 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Shaun Livingston added 13 points.

Despite winning 11 of its last 12 home games to capture the league's best record, Utah is just 5-4 on the road. However, the Jazz have won three of their four December contests.

Carlos Boozer scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Deron Williams added 18 points and coach Jerry Sloan recorded his 1,000th victory as the Jazz posted a 101-79 triumph over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday.

Mehmet Okur scored 27 points and Matt Harpring added 22 for Utah, which won for the 29th time in 30 home meetings against the Clippers with a 112-90 win on November 14.
