Spurs can send 76ers to 11th straight loss

Dec 16, 2006 - 5:52 PM Philadelphia (5-17) at San Antonio (18-6) 8:00 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) - Already mired in a 10-game losing streak, the Philadelphia 76ers now have to face one of the best teams in the NBA.

Without superstar Allen Iverson, the struggling 76ers will take on the San Antonio Spurs on the road Saturday.

The Sixers are on their longest losing streak since a 13-game skid from December 28, 1996 to January 20, 1997.

Iverson missed his fifth straight game on Friday after requesting a trade last week. Compounding the problem, Chris Webber also did not play in the team's loss to the Spurs after spraining an ankle vs. Boston on Wednesday.

Samuel Dalembert had 16 points and seven rebounds for Philadelphia, which shot 46 percent (32-of-70) in a 93-79 loss to Dallas on Friday.

On Thursday, Manu Ginobili scored 16 of his 24 points in the first half and Tony Parker added 19 and eight assists as the Spurs gained control in the opening minutes en route to a 103-77 victory over New Orleans.

Tim Duncan had 11 points and nine rebounds for San Antonio, which has won four of its last five contests.
