Temple holds off Penn State 45-42
Dec 5, 2009 - 11:23 PM PHILADELPHIA(AP) -- Ryan Brooks scored 19 points and made a pair of late free throws to lift Temple to a 45-42 win over Penn State on Saturday.Brooks, who was the only Temple player to score in double figures, shot 8-for-18 from the field and grabbed six rebounds for the Owls (6-2).
His jumper from the top of the key with 1:32 left to play gave Temple a 43-40 lead. His two free throws with 11.6 seconds to go - after an offensive foul against the Nittany Lions - accounted for the final margin.
Chris Babb came off the bench to lead Penn State (5-3) with 11 points.
The Owls made just 18 of 60 shots (30 percent). The Nittany Lions shot 15-for-43 (34.9 percent).
