UMass holds off Holy Cross 84-63
Dec 6, 2009 - 12:04 AM WORCESTER, Mass.(AP) -- Ricky Harris scored 19 points and Anthony Gurley added 18 to lead Massachusetts to an 84-63 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday.Freddie Riley added 12 points for the Minutemen (4-4), who were 12-for-26 from 3-point range (46.2 percent). Harris knocked down four from long range and Gurley, Riley and Gary Correia hit two each.
Holy Cross was 3-for-8 from beyond the arc in the game (37.5 percent).
The Minutemen held a 10-7 lead after the first 5 minutes of the opening half, before an 11-0 run put them ahead 21-7. The Crusaders answered by scoring nine straight points to make the score 23-18, but that was as close as Holy Cross would get. UMass eventually increased its lead to 74-54 with 5 minutes left in the second half, and would lead by at least 20 points the rest of the way.
