Memphis outlasts Tulane 77-64

Feb 18, 2010 - 4:42 AM NEW ORLEANS(AP) -- Roburt Sallie scored 17 points, leading five Memphis players in double figures in a 77-64 win over Tulane on Wednesday night.

Wesley Witherspoon added 16 points, Will Coleman 13, Elliot Williams 12 and Doneal Mack 10 for the Tigers (19-7, 9-2 Conference USA). Witherspoon also grabbed a career-high nine boards.

Memphis improved to 41-9 all-time against Tulane and has won the last 18 in the series.

The Tigers led by seven at halftime, but Tulane rallied to cut the lead to 59-55 with 7:18 left in the game. That would be the closest that the Green Wave would get as the Tigers outscored Tulane 19-8 the rest of the way.

The Tigers shot 25-for-44 from the field (56.8 percent), marking the fourth time in C-USA play that they finished over 50 percent. Tulane was just 24-for-55 (43.6 percent).

Kendall Timmons scored a career-high 23 points for the Green Wave (7-18, 2-10).
