Holy Cross ends 3-game skid against American 64-51
Feb 21, 2010 - 9:52 PM WORCESTER, Mass.(AP) -- Andrew Keister scored 15 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to help Holy Cross defeat American U. 64-51 on Sunday.The Crusaders (8-19, 5-7 Patriot League) shot 50 percent (16 of 32) in the first half, building a 35-24 lead at halftime.
American (8-19, 5-7) pulled within 48-41 on Stephen Lumpkins' two free throws with 8:50 to go, but wouldn't get any closer.
Holy Cross answered with seven straight points to lead 56-41 on Eric Meister's layup with 2:11 left.
The Crusaders scored 16 points off 14 turnovers and snapped a three-game losing streak to the Eagles.
Holy Cross shot 46.5 percent from the field (25 of 55), while American connected on 39.6 percent of its shots (19 of 48), including 18.2 percent from 3-point range (4 of 22).
Devin Brown added 16 points for the Crusaders and Dee Govens chipped in 10.
Stephen Lumpkins scored 16 points for the Eagles.
