Pane helps No. 22 Utah State top Nevada

Feb 3, 2011 - 6:22 AM Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Brockeith Pane had 18 points to help No. 22 Utah State take a 67-45 win over Nevada in Western Athletic Conference action.

Brady Jardine had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Aggies (21-2, 10-0 WAC), who have won 16 straight after a loss at Georgetown on December 4.

Deonte Burton notched 11 points while Dario Hunt added seven points and 10 rebounds for the Wolf Pack (8-14, 5-4), who had a four-game winning streak stopped.

Holding a one-point lead to start the second half, Utah State scored the first seven points and held a 36-28 lead on a Nate Bendall layup.

Nevada was able to keep it an eight-point game for the next couple of minutes, but a 9-1 run from Utah State saw the team hold a 50-34 lead with under 12 minutes to play on a Pane jumper.

Nevada cut the lead to 12 on a Hunt jumper with nine minutes to play, but Tyler Newbold countered with a three-ball and Utah State's lead never fell below 14 points the rest of the way.

The first part of the opening half was played tightly and Utah State held a 15-11 lead off a Jardine jumper with under 12 minutes to play.

The Aggies built their advantage to eight points on a pair of Pane free throws that made it a 27-19 game with five minutes to play, but the Wolf Pack scored the final five points of the half to cut their deficit to 29-28 going into the break.
