Miller lifts FSU past NC State

Feb 19, 2012 - 12:02 AM Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Ian Miller scored 17 points to lift No. 20 Florida State to a 76-62 win over North Carolina State at RBC Center.

Bernard James had 12 points and six rebounds while Michael Snaer added 10 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Seminoles (19-7, 10-2 ACC), who have won their past three and 10 of 11.

C.J. Leslie scored 21 points with nine rebounds for the Wolfpack (18-9, 7-5), who have dropped two straight. Lorenzo Brown added 12 points in the loss.

"We all go to work sometimes and nothing goes your way, we were having one of those days," said North Carolina State head coach Mark Gottfried. "I'm disappointed. I didn't think we were as mentally tough as we could have been. We just accepted our fate, and Florida State ended up having a great day, offensively, because of that."

Florida State got the first bucket of the game on an Xavier Gibson tip-in and never trailed from there.

The game stayed tight over the first several minutes, but a 6-0 run gave Florida State some breathing space when Gibson put in a jumper with under nine minutes to play for a 23-14 lead.

The Wolfpack kept their deficit in single digits for much of the remainder of the first half, but Miller buried a three near the buzzer to give Florida State a 37-26 lead going into the locker room.

Florida State was able to build on its lead early in the second half and made it a 20-point game when Okaro White tipped in a shot for a 57-37 lead with 10 minutes to play.

North Carolina State never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
