UConn dismantles USF

Feb 13, 2014 - 4:42 AM Hartford, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - DeAndre Daniels scored 12 points to lead No. 24 Connecticut to an 83-40 drubbing of South Florida on Wednesday night.

Kentan Facey contributed 10 points for the Huskies (19-5, 7-4 AAC), who have won five of their last six games. 12 players scored for UConn, which led wire- to-wire in the rout.

Musa Abdul-Aleem scored a team-high eight points for the Bulls (12-13, 3-9), which has dropped 17 of their last 18 games on the road against ranked opponents.

Shabazz Napier canned a 3 before Facey made a jumper to cap a 15-3 run to open the game for the Huskies.

"We came out and established ourselves early," said UConn head coach Kevin Ollie.

UConn led 17-7 when Ryan Boatright knocked down a pair of free throws to ignite a 22-4 run to take a stranglehold on the Bulls.

Cory Allen Jr. made a jumper at 5:14 to end a drought of over 6 1/2 minutes without a field goal for South Florida.

John Egbunu followed Javontae Hawkins' free throw with a dunk to halt the run, but UConn scored the final six points of the half to take a commanding 45-14 lead at the break.

UConn led 51-17 early in the second half when the Huskies ran off 11 straight for a 45-point cushion as they won going away.

UConn is 11-2 all-time against USF ... UConn went 28-for-53 (52.8 percent) from the field and held the Bulls to 12-of-50 (24 percent) shooting ... The Huskies outrebounded USF, 41-31.
