Gonzaga routs San Francisco
Dec 31, 2013 - 5:17 AM Spokane, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Drew Barham made five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and nine rebounds as the 24th-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs downed overmatched San Francisco, 69-41, in West Coast Conference action.Kevin Pangos shook off a toe injury and recorded 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Bulldogs (12-2, 2-0 WCC), who have won 25 straight at home against the Dons and 20 consecutive conference games overall.
Przemek Karnowski nearly recorded a double-double with 11 points and eight boards while David Stockton chipped in with 10 points and seven assists in the wire-to-wire rout.
Avry Holmes led San Francisco (8-6, 1-1) with 16 points, but the Dons were done in by making just 25.5 percent of their shots.
Gonzaga scored the game's first seven points and used a 10-0 spurt to go on top, 25-10, following 3-pointers from Barham and Pangos with just over seven minutes left before the intermission.
Other than Holmes, San Francisco came out cold, shooting just 4-for-21 (19.0 percent) from the field in the first half minus Holmes' production.
The 3-pointers kept flying for the Bulldogs early in the second half, as Barham made three and Kyle Dranginis added another to push Gonzaga's cushion to an insurmountable 59-31 with less than 13 minutes to play.
Game Notes
The Dons last won in Spokane on Feb. 10, 1989 ... Gonzaga improved to 8-0 at home this season ... San Francisco had a two-game winning streak snapped.
