Unbeaten Huskies rally past Eastern Washington

Dec 15, 2014 - 4:20 AM Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Robert Upshaw made a putback jumper to put 17th-ranked Washington ahead with 1:27 remaining in the game and the Huskies held on to beat Eastern Washington 81-77 on Sunday.

Upshaw finished with a career-high 21 points, nine rebounds and six blocks for the Huskies (8-0), who rallied from a 14-point deficit to remain unbeaten.

Nigel Williams-Goss had 19 points and Andrew Andrews scored 18 with seven rebounds for Washington, which is off to its best start since opening the 2005-06 season with 11 straight wins.

Tyler Harvey led the Eagles (8-2) with 21 points, followed by Drew Brandon with 16 and nine rebounds.

"There is no moral victory, but we gave the No. 17 team in the nation all it could handle," said Eastern Washington coach Jim Hayford.

The Huskies trailed for the majority of the game, but Upshaw's bucket made it 71-70. Darin Johnson nailed a 3-pointer for a 77-72 Washington lead, but Harvey hit a deep three to pull Eastern Washington within 79-77 with 27.3 seconds to play.

After Andrews made two free throws, the Huskies prevailed when Parker Kelly and Harvey each missed from beyond the arc.

The Eagles broke away from the Huskies in the first half with a 15-4 run. Two Brandon free throws made it 40-26 with 1:22 left, and Eastern Washington went into halftime up 42-31.

The Huskies have won the last nine meetings and hold a 13-1 advantage in the series ... Eastern Washington suffered its 19th straight loss to a ranked opponent ... Mike Anderson had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists for Washington ... Harvey was 5-of-12 from 3-point range.
