Gonzaga rallies to down San Francisco

Mar 8, 2015 - 5:39 AM Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Przemek Karnowski scored 24 points to lead No. 7 Gonzaga in an 81-72 win over San Francisco in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament.

Kyle Wiltjer had 19 points and eight rebounds while Kevin Pangos and Kyle Dranginis each gave 10 for the Bulldogs (30-2), who advanced to take on Pepperdine on Monday.

Tim Derksen had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Mark Tollefsen added 21 points and eight rebounds for the Dons (14-18), who had defeated Pacific on Friday in the opening round.

San Francisco held a two-point lead going into the second half, and still held a two-point lead six minutes in when Derksen put in a layup for a 41-39 lead.

Gonzaga turned it on from there, though, as Wiltjer scored six straight points to kick off a 16-0 run that he finished off with a jumper for a 55-41 lead with 10 minutes to play.

A 7-0 run from the Dons saw them cut their deficit to 66-59 with 3 1/2 to play after Devin Watson hit a pair of free throws, but Gary Bell answered with a 3- pointer and Dranginis hit a free throw for a 70-59 lead with 2 1/2 to play.

San Francisco never got closer than nine back the rest of the way.

The Dons trailed for much of the first half, but used a 12-2 run to surge ahead and took a 29-27 lead into the break.

Gonzaga shot 52.7 percent from the floor, and held San Francisco to just 36.9 percent ... Gonzaga improved to 2-1 against San Francisco in the WCC Tournament ... Bell finished the game with eight points.
