Boggan, Curry look to keep No. 17 Oklahoma State unbeaten

Dec 18, 2006 - 2:16 PM No. 17 Oklahoma St (11-0) at Tennessee (7-2) 8:00 pm EST

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Mario Boggan and JamesOn Curry have kept a solid grip on the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week award.

The team's top two scorers, Boggan and Curry try to maintain their productive play as the 17th-ranked Cowboys attempt to stay undefeated Monday when they battle Tennessee.

A 6-7 senior who was named the Most Valuable Player of last month's South Padre Island Invitational, Boggan was named the Big 12 Player of the Week last week after averaging 22.5 points and seven rebounds in wins over Syracuse and Ball State.

Boggan followed Curry, who captured conference honors the previous week after scoring a career-high 35 points against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on November 29.

Oklahoma State has not played since December 9, when it posted a 75-56 victory over Ball State. Boggan made 10-of-14 shots to score 24 points and Curry added 13 for the Cowboys, who are 11-0 for the fifth time in school history.

Playing the fifth of nine consecutive games within its home state, Tennessee has won its last four outings after losing twice at the NIT Season Tip-Off in New York last month.

Chris Lofton hit 11-of-15 shots and scored 32 points, JaJuan Smith added 21 and Ramar Smith 15 for the Volunteers in Saturday's 93-79 triumph over Western Kentucky.

Curry and Byron Eaton scored 16 points apiece as the Cowboys shot 63 percent (34-of-54) from the floor in an 89-73 win over Tennessee in their only previous meeting on December 22, 2005.
