James, Marquette eye third straight win
Dec 22, 2006 - 4:23 PM Morgan St (2-7) at No. 21 Marquette (11-2) 8:30 pm ESTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Dominic James and No. 21 Marquette go for their third straight victory when they face Morgan State on Friday.
James scored 20 points and handed out nine assists and Jerel McNeal added 17 and six steals as the Golden Eagles posted an 80-62 victory over Oakland on Tuesday in the sixth game of their eight-game homestand.
Marquette shot 59 percent (29-of-49) while limiting Oakland to 31 percent (16-of-51).
The Golden Eagles meet the Golden Bears for the first time since 1998.
Morgan State absorbed a 102-76 loss to La Salle on Wednesday. Joseph McLean netted 16 points and freshman Reggie Holmes added 15 for the Golden Bears, who made just 5-of-24 3-point attempts.
