Wichita State goes for school-record 10th straight win
Dec 22, 2006 - 4:29 PM No. 8 Wichita St (9-0) at New Mexico (8-2) 10:30 pm ESTLAS VEGAS (Ticker) -- Wichita State goes for a school-record 10th straight victory when it tangles with New Mexico in the semifinals of the Las Vegas Classic on Friday.
The Shockers tied the school mark with their ninth consecutive victory on Tuesday when they downed Kennesaw State, 74-65.
Senior guard Ryan Martin led the Shockers with 19 points while Phillip Thomasson added 14 points. Kyle Wilson, who leads Wichita State in scoring at 13.0 points-per-game, was held to just seven points.
New Mexico has won its last three after dropping two straight games. The Lobos downed Charleston Southern, 76-69, on Tuesday as J.R. Giddens scored 18 points to lead the way.
Tony Dandridge added 13 for New Mexico, which shot 48 percent (28-of-58) from the field.
