Oregon seeks 11-0 record for first time in 60 years

Dec 23, 2006 - 5:09 PM Mercer (5-5) at No. 23 Oregon (10-0) 4:00 pm EST

EUGENE, Oregon (Ticker) -- Unbeaten Oregon tries to go where it hasn't been in 60 years.

The 23rd-ranked Ducks face Mercer for the first time Saturday in a non-conference matchup.

The last time Oregon started 11-0 was during the 1946-47 season. That squad won its first 12 games.

Malik Hairston scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds and Aaron Brooks added 18 as the Ducks routed Idaho State, 84-55, on Sunday. Bryce Taylor finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for Oregon, which made 14-of-29 3-pointers.

Hairston is questionable for this contest due to a heel injury.

On its second stop of a four-game road trip, the Bears fell, 93-62, to Oregon State on Thursday. Sam Dolan scored 15 points and Calvin Henry added 12 for Mercer, which made just 3-of-16 3-point attempts.
