LSU faces Mississippi Valley State in Hispanic Funds Classic
Dec 28, 2006 - 4:44 PM Miss Valley St (3-7) at No. 19 LSU (8-3) 8:30 pm ESTBATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- After a disappointing performance against a tough opponent, Glen Davis bounced back in a big way.
Davis leads 17th-ranked LSU against Mississippi Valley State on Thursday in the second day of the three-game, three-day Hispanic College Funds Classic.
In a matchup with Washington freshman center Spencer Hawes on December 20, Davis had his streak of four consecutive double-doubles come to a screeching halt. While Davis collected 12 rebounds, he managed just eight points, a dozen below his season average.
On Wednesday, Davis scored 26 points and hauled in 13 rebounds to power LSU to a 71-45 victory over Wright State in the first round. The Tigers will finish out the tournament on Friday against Samford.
Thursday's contest will be the first ever meeting between the schools.
