Carter, Texas A&M dismantle Gramblimg

Dec 29, 2006 - 3:10 AM COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- When Josh Carter and Texas A&M see Grambling on their schedule, they start thinking triple figures.

Carter scored 24 points and Joseph Jones added 20 as No. 12 Texas A&M pulverized Grambling with a 101-27 victory.

Acie Law IV had 13 points and tied his career high with 14 assists and Donald Sloan scored 12 for the Aggies, who have averaged 100.5 points in all four series victories vs. the Tigers.

Last season, Texas A&M beat Grambling, 101-71, and has now won 32 straight non-conference home games.

The Aggies' 74-point margin of victory was the largest in school history and biggest by a Big 12 team since the league was formed in 1996-97.

The Tigers' 27 points were the fewest by a Texas A&M opponent since the 1947-48 season, when the Aggies beat TCU, 48-22.

Carter, who scored 21 first-half points, made 8-of-13 3-point field goals. He missed just one other shot from the field for Texas A&M (11-2), which outrebounded Grambling, 48-34, and forced 30 turnovers.

Jones was 8-of-8 from the field for the Aggies, who led, 65-13, at halftime, holding the Tigers to just four field goals. Texas A&M's point total in the first half were a school record for the opening period.

The Aggies shot 52 percent (37-of-71) while the Tigers finished 10-of-51 (20 percent).

Kendric Baker and Anthony Williams each scored six points for Grambling (2-5), which did not have a player make more than two field goals the entire contest.
