Kansas aims for its sixth straight victory, faces Rhode Island

LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- No. 10 Kansas looks to continue their hot streak when they face Rhode Island on Saturday.

The Jayhawks won for the fifth consecutive time on Thursday as Mario Chalmers scored 22 points during a 63-43 triumph over Detroit.

Kansas' last defeat was a 64-57 loss to DePaul on December 2.

Kansas held a slim 41-37 lead midway through the second half against the Titans but used an 11-2 run capped by Chalmers' dunk with 4:50 remaining to put the game away for good.

Battling the flu, leading scorer Brandon Rush managed just nine points on 4-of-8 shooting.

Darell Harris and Jimmy Baron each scored 15 points for the Rams during a 97-69 defeat at the hands of Ohio on Wednesday.

Rhode Island, which is 1-3 on the road this season, is face Kansas for the first time since beating the Jayhawks in the second round of the 1998 NCAA Tournament.
