Panthers look to continue home success vs. Florida A&M
Dec 30, 2006 - 5:08 PM Florida A&M (6-6) at No. 11 Pittsburgh (11-2) 8:00 pm ESTPITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh has been nearly unbeatable at home.
The 11th-ranked Panthers will look to stay on a roll when they take on Florida A&M on Saturday.
Before opening its Big East Conference schedule on Thursday against Syracuse, Pittsburgh will look to improve on its 44-1 record against non-conference foes at the Petersen Events Center.
Even against conference foes, the Panthers play well on their home floor. They are 72-6 at home since the arena opened in 2002.
Sam Young scored 18 points off the bench and Levance Fields added 16 as Pittsburgh posted an 84-54 rout of Dayton last Saturday.
Wooden Award candidate Aaron Gray had just five points but hauled in 15 rebounds and added two blocks for the Panthers, who rebounded from disappointing losses to ranked foes Wisconsin and Oklahoma State.
Florida A&M has lost to 23 consecutive ranked opponents. After starting the season 1-5, the Rattlers have won four straight, including a 66-65 victory over North Florida on December 21.
This will be the first meeting between the schools.
