Clemson looks to continue unbeaten start against Georgia State

Dec 31, 2006 - 3:39 PM Georgia St. (4-6) at No. 21 Clemson (13-0) 2:00 pm EST

CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) -- With Connecticut falling from the ranks of the unbeaten on Saturday, Clemson looks to avoid the same fate.

The 21st-ranked Tigers aim to remain among the three undefeated teams in the nation when they host Georgia State on Sunday.

Off to its second-best start in school history, Clemson needs four more wins in order to tie the 1986-87 edition, which began 17-0.

Trevor Booker scored 14 points and Vernon Hamilton, Cliff Hammonds and K.C Rivers each had 13 in the Tigers' 75-60 triumph over Georgia on Thursday.

The matchup against the Panthers is the Tigers' last non-conference contest before they open Atlantic Coast Conference play on January 3 at Florida State.

Georgia State has lost three of its last four games, including a 101-59 drubbing against Iowa on December 20. Rashad Chase and Leonard Mendez had 10 points apiece in the loss.
