20th-ranked Washington aims to end three-game slide

Jan 6, 2007 - 4:30 PM Arizona St (6-8) at No. 20 Washington (10-4) 8:00 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Coach Lorenzo Romar and Washington are finding out just how hard it is to compete in the Pac-10.

The 20th-ranked Huskies search for their first conference victory whey they welcome in Arizona State on Saturday.

Jon Brockman, Phil Nelson and Spencer Hawes all scored 16 points as Washington dropped its third consecutive game - all in the Pac-10 - with a 96-87 setback to Arizona on Thursday.

The last time the Huskies opened conference play with a three-game losing streak was during the 2004 season.

Jeff Pendergraph scored 16 points and Christian Polk added 13 for the Sun Devils in Thursday's 75-55 loss at Washington State. Arizona State is also winless in three conference games this season.

A 6-9 sophomore, Pendergraph has recorded six double-doubles this season.

Washington won the last seven meetings against Arizona State, tying for its longest streak in the series.
