Panthers look to stay unbeaten at home
Jan 7, 2007 - 5:04 PM South Florida (9-6) at No. 10 Pittsburgh (13-2) 12:00 pm ESTPITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh looks to run its home record to a perfect 10-0 when its hosts South Florida on Sunday.
The Panthers (13-2, 1-0 Big East) captured their third straight win with a 74-66 victory at Syracuse in the conference opener on Thursday. Levance Fields led the club with a career-high 24 points while Ronald Ramon added 12.
Pittsburgh shot 41 percent (9-of-22) from 3-point range while holding the Orangeman to 26 percent (5-of-19) from the arc.
South Florida (9-6, 0-1) had two two-game win streak ended in a 69-50 loss at Connecticut on Tuesday. Melvin Buckley led South Florida with 17 points.
The Bulls, who committed 17 turnovers in their conference opener, continued to have a hard time adjusting to the Big East. Last season, they went 1-15 in their first season in the league.
Since 1992-93, South Florida is just 3-39 against ranked opponents.
