Florida looks to extend winning streak to nine games
Jan 13, 2007 - 2:50 PM No. 2 Florida (15-2) at South Carolina (10-4) 1:00 pm ESTCOLUMBIA, South Carolina (Ticker) - Second-ranked Florida tries to extend its winning streak to nine games when it visits Southeastern Conference rival South Carolina on Saturday.
It is a rematch of the 2006 SEC tournament championship game, won by the Gators, 49-47.
On Tuesday, Florida (15-2, 2-0 SEC East) beat Arkansas, 79-72, in Gainesville. Taurean Green scored 17 points and Corey Brewer added 13 for the Gators, who shot 49 percent from the field.
The Gamecocks (10-4, 0-1 East) were blown out at Georgia, 80-56, on Wednesday.
Dwayne Day scored 14 points and Dominique Archie added 10 for South Carolina, which is 7-2 at home. Its only home losses came at the hands of undefeated Clemson and Kansas.
Tre' Kelley leads the Gamecocks in scoring (15.7) and assists (4.9).
Florida is 30-19 all-time against South Carolina and 14-8 vs. the Gamecocks under Billy Donovan. Florida dropped the two regular-season meetings against the Gamecocks last campaign.
